The Los Tuxtlas morphospecies inventory pages include so far seven species of Pseudoscorpiones documented with 70 images. We collected 443 specimens (174 immatures and 269 adults). Most specimens were collected with Berlese funnels. These seven species represent a good estimate for only one hectare of leaf litter, other methods of sampling that cover their phoretic hosts is needed.
For Araneomorphae the separation and imaging of most specimens still a work in progress. We have collected so far ca. 3,500 adult spiders from one hectare of tropical wet forest insde the Reserva de la Biosfera Los Tuxtlas in Veracruz. This reserve is property of the UNAM and it is managed by the Instituto de Biología. These specimens were collected inside a one hectare plot, visited four times a year, two of them pending in November 2017 and February 2018.
Sampling protocols included six methods divided by hours/person as effort unit during day and night. Collecting methods included 'beating', 'cryptic' and pitfall traps; 'looking up' and 'looking down'. In addition leaf litter was processed with 12 Berlese funnels of 45 cm in diameter and 60 pitfall traps left for five active days. For more information about these methods and sampling protocol go to the references at the Inventories Home Page.
